July 2023 Portfolio Review

Posted on August 4, 2023 by invspot

Portfolio Review

Summer is breezing by, the sunny days seem to pass rather quickly. Maybe it’s just from the enjoyment of spending time outdoors either the back yard or at the shore I love the summer. Time doesn’t stand still and neither does the Stock Market the S&P kept chugging along thru July and finished up 3.11% bringing the YTP return at 19.52%. My overall portfolio performance for the month was 3.78% across the 4 accounts.

Dividends Received

The beginning of a new quarter means a slower rate of dividends received, but they keep coming in and at a higher rate than same months from prior years . This month I collected $324 from 12 holdings with the highest payout coming from KMB . It marks a 43% increase over the same period a year ago. Below is a breakdown of the payouts for this month.

Monthly Purchases

If you have been following me, by now you know I invest $300 every week into my brokerage account.

My weekly ~$300 investments went into these positions:

2 Shares of SCHD
7 Shares of NEE
3 Shares of KR
1 Share of JPM
1 Share of TROW
5 Shares of KVUE
1 Share of NDAQ
2 Shares of GL

In my Roth accounts – Funded with Options Premiums.

11 Shares s of VICI

Total invested for the month of $1460.79 adding $54.21 in PADI.

It was time to cut my losses with a few of my holdings I closed out my positions in ATT T , Paramount PARA, and Walgreens WBA

I used the funds from these sales to open 4 new positions.

Nasdaq NDAQ
Globe Life GL
KenVue KVUE

TSLY – is a covered call ETF that trades on a single stock Tesla and is a monthly payer. The yield is bonkers and not sustainable in my opinion. I put a small amount in this to see if I can recoup some of the losses from my previous three holdings.

With the shuffling of positions there was a decline in PADI but the TSLY makes up for the lose and at current payout actually boosts my PADI by $259

Dividend Increases

I had a single holding announce a dividend increase.

Bank of America BAC with a 9% increase.

Options Income

For July I generated a total of $433 in options premiums. A slow month but I have been enjoying summer and spending less time watching the market in general.

Year to date I have generated $3674 in premiums on $25,000 a 14.6% return on my money, and those premiums then get reinvested into my portfolio boosting the return even higher.

Wrapping it up!

As mentioned earlier we increased PADI by $313 a 5.21% increase from the previous month. My projected PADI now sits at $6327 or $527 a month.

My trailing 12 month payout is at $445 per month.
